Lane Thomas, a centerfielder for the Guardians, brought the Detroit Tigers’ postseason to an end after hitting a grand slam in the fifth inning of the playoff game that took place on October 12th, 2024. Detroit fans were devastated by the loss, as the Tigers had beaten the odds by making it to the postseason for the first time since 2014. Though they were the least favored team to make the World Series, loyal fans from the Metro Detroit area stayed faithful, believing in the team that they had grown up watching. Though the game last Saturday was a let down, Tigers fans remain hopeful for the upcoming season, as the team made it clear that they had what it takes to have a good season. Fans also have high hopes due to the performance of younger players like Parker Meadows. The Tigers also have a few heavy hitters, such as Kerry Carpenter, who showed his talent on October 7th after hitting a home run against the Guardians, allowing the Tigers to walk away with the win.
