CayGouda! is an inspiring young rapper who attends the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy. He has big aspirations to take his musical talents to the next level and prove to people why he is legit. At U of D Jesuit, students heavily support him for his diligent mindset, inspirational lyrics, and humility. Cayden has been writing songs since the 2nd grade and always wanted to create art.
Cayden Walton is his real name, but his stage name is CayGouda. His reasoning for creating this name is, “My real name is Cayden, and I enjoy getting money; cheese is slang for money, and gouda is a type of cheese, and that’s how I got CayGouda!”. The name is very creative, and tons of students at U of D. Jesuit yell it out when they get a chance to acknowledge him.
Students at The High show an exceptional amount of support to him by having the teachers play his music videos in class and reposting his music on their social media accounts to help expand an audience outside of school. Cayden explained, “I think it’s cool that they like it, and I appreciate the support for the music.” From Cayden’s freshman year to now senior year, the students have always shown their appreciation for the music because they get to learn something and feel inspired by his art.
Cayden is a melodic/cloud rap artist and has so far made two albums called (Yen) and (#Solo). These two albums contain exceptional storytelling and will take you on a relaxing ride through Cayden’s thoughts and life. Popular songs like Plan of Action and Count it Up express how he is always persistent with whatever he is doing and staying out of the way with all the distractions. Gouda also has a fair share of multiple singles and EPs that show his deep passion for success and being number one. One of his extended plays, The Golden Child, defines his seriousness for music and how he deserves his respect. In the song The Golden Child, a standout lyric that Cayden says is, “I’m just a young king trying to get it back by any means. Doughboy DBM4L, that’s my only team.” Cayden describes that he is just trying to make it, and nothing is going to stop him from doing what he wants to do. When he talked about DBM4L being his only team, he expressed that he is his brother’s keeper and always stands by them through everything.
Throughout his childhood, he was inspired by many artists, such as Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, Pierre Bourne, and Lucki. These artists shaped who Cayden is as an artist and motivated him to continue his dreams of becoming a successful artist. His main favorite artist is Pierre Bourne, a successful rapper and producer who has produced some of the top songs in the new generation. Doublemint, Moto, and Poof are his favorite songs by Bourne.
Cayden’s passion for music is like no other, and he is only improving with time. As far as future music, he mentioned, “EP (extended play) soon. I’m working on stuff not ready to drop yet but will very soon.” No matter what others may say about him, he is always consistent and is determined to reach the top by any means possible. “My name and music are my outlets. I am my art, so I take a lot of my critics seriously, but I learned to block out love and hate.”.
