Election day is November 5, but voting has already begun across Metro Detroit. Both presidential candidates have taken notice of the role Michigan plays in the election as a swing state. Former president Donald Trump spoke to supporters on Friday at Huntington Place promising to keep manufacturing jobs in America. Former President Barack Obama also spoke at Huntington Place on Tuesday, as a surrogate for Harris’s presidential and Slotkin’s senatorial campaigns. Vice President Harris spoke at a town hall on Monday in Royal Oak, answering questions from Michiganders. Xavier Evoy is a junior at the University of Detroit Jesuit and a first-time writer for the Cub News. Xavier is experienced in writing for U of D Jesuit, serving as the editor in chief of the CI and CII editions of the Cub Annual and currently an Editor of U of D Jesuit's literary arts magazine, Inscape.
