Bennett Vesprini is a gifted musician who attends the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy. Outside of music, Bennett works extremely proficiently in the classroom and with the varsity wrestling team. Bennett has been attending U of D Jesuit since the 8th grade and has gained respect from many of his peers in the Orchestra and Jazz Band. This is due to his dedication to helping make both bands superior and being a leader. Vesprini plays the bass, piano, and guitar.
When Bennett joined U of D Jesuit in 8th grade, he wanted to join the Symphony Orchestra due to his love of music. Bennett decided to play the bass that year and since then has been exceptional. Vesprini plays the bass very expertly with his finger technique, rhythm, and improvisation. Because of his skills, he sets the standard for his classmates to play to the best of their ability and not be indolent. But he deeply believes the band is going in the right direction. Bennett mentioned, “I feel like we are at our peak right now in the orchestra, and we are only going to get better.”
Music plays a big part in Vesprini’s life and helped shape him into the person he is today. Bennett enjoys music genres such as Alternative Rap, Pop, and Hip Hop, and his favorite artist of all time is Childish Gambino. These genres help Bennett push through long days and get him motivated when it’s time for him to hit the mat in wrestling. Bennett’s favorite songs to listen to are Doxy and Chameleon. By Miles Davis, who is a legendary jazz artist. Davis inspired Bennett to play jazz music which is the main reason why he plays jazz tunes. Not only did Bennett grow a connection to the orchestra, but he grew one to jazz as well and thought it was good for him to join the jazz band to play the bass at U of D Jesuit with conductors Joshua James and Patrick Prouty. Vesprini explained, “My love for jazz and creativity made me want to join the jazz band.”.
Bennett has shown from his five years at U of D Jesuit what it takes to be a student, athlete, and musician and not just be all three but to be extremely proficient at all three. With him graduating this school year, he plans to leave his mark on the music program at The High and go on to continue striving to be the best musician he can be. But the most important thing to him is seeing the orchestra and the jazz band be at their finest. Bennett Vesprini is a one-of-a-kind musician who will most definitely seek greatness.
