“Comedian” an art piece of a banana duct-taped to a wall has just recently sold in Sotheby’s in New York City (one of the largest brokers of fine arts in the world) for $6.2 million dollars. The piece was made by Italian fine artist Maurizio Cattelan in 2019. It was
bought by cryptocurrency trader Justin Sun, who outbid six other people for the banana last Wednesday. Sun told the public he is going to eat the fruit, as it is an experience that comes with the purchase. The purchase also comes with specific instructions on how to replace the banana when it becomes too ripe. According to the New York Times, the banana was bought that same morning for a whopping $0.35. It is now considered one of the most expensive fruits sold in history.
