Last Wednesday, November 20th, the country music community came together for the 58th CMA awards ceremony. This ceremony included many star-studded performances from country music legends, as well as a tribute to George Strait. The night started off with a performance from Post Malone and Chris Stapleton. The duo performed ‘California Sober’ off Post Malone’s new album, F-1 Trillion. After the performance, the award show kicked off, and Stapleton couldn’t have guessed what would happen next.
Stapleton was nominated for five awards, entertainer of the year, album of the year, male vocalist of the year, single of the year, and song of the year. Out of these five, he won song of the year and Single of the year, both with his song ‘White Horse’, and a solo award for male vocalist of the year. This was his eighth win out of nine nominations, extending his record for the award. Even though he started his solo career deep into his thirties, he still consistently shows that he is a major name in country music
