Jared Mccain was the Philadelphia 76ers’ 16th overall pick in the 2024 National Basketball Association draft. So far, he has shown exceptional success in the league, averaging 15.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. His field goal percentage is 47.5%. Mccain also leads the rookie class in the most points scored with it being 198 and averaging 15.2 points a game. This past week the NBA posted on its Instagram page a power ranking of the top three rookies in the league with Jared Mccain being the number one rookie. The other two were Memphis Grizzles Jaylen Wills and Los Angeles Lakers Dalton Knecht. Mccain is also doing a task that most rookies in the league can never do: being the team leader. Joel Embiid the center of the 76ers was announced injured before their game against the Brooklyn Nets and most likely to be out for the next couple of games. With him being the team’s main leader, many fans suspected it would be hard for them to win this game and the next few, but Jared stepped up and started dominating this game. Mccain scored 30 points shooting 11/20 from the field and 2/3 from the 3-point line. The team easily beat the Brooklyn Nets without their star player Joel Embiid and snapped their 5 game-losing streak. Jared Mccain is one to most certainly look out for this season and might just win the Rookie of the Year.
