Welcome Back from Father Munz

Father Munz

Welcome back Cubs and to the entire Cub community!  There is great energy in the building, with everyone back after a long hiatus.

Five years ago, when I first arrived here, then-senior Ryan Cullen interviewed me for the newspaper.  My comment then resonates today, as surely, and more, as it did in 2016: “The Kingdom of God is here!”  We are a community in the tradition of Jesuit education.  We help each other and love each other so that each of us can learn how deeply the Lord yearns to be with us and how he calls each of us by name.  We live as men and women for others to the greater glory of God, reaching out to help those in need in our Cub community, in metro Detroit, and around the world.  Indeed, the Kingdom of God is here.

At the Mass of the Holy Spirit, I invited each of you to consider how the Spirit of Lord is upon you, how God, our Lord, is finding you in all things.  The contemplative monk, Thomas Merton, said it this way: “We must learn to realize that the love of God seeks us in every situation, and seeks our good.  His inscrutable love seeks our awakening.”  This is my prayer for all of you every day.

Let’s have a great year together.  Go Cubs!
