In the spring of 2024, the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy was searching for a school nurse who could show dignity and compassion while dealing with students. U of D decided to employ Rene Kubiak as the new school nurse. Kubiak is a registered nurse and a mechanical engineer with much expertise who is ready to do whatever it takes to strengthen The High.
Rene Kubiak was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, an engaging city filled with positive motives and ravishing citizens. At Lincoln High School, Kubiak favored different types of math and appreciated the opportunity to join the women’s basketball and softball team. Kubiak mentioned, “My favorite part of being in high school was joining the basketball team and volleyball team and just being with the girls. I was very good at basketball, but I was done playing when I was thirty. But I was probably better at softball than basketball.”
After graduating high school, Kubiak attended Michigan State to earn her Bachelor’s of Science, Oakland University to earn her Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and finally, University of Detroit Mercy to earn her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Since graduating from her first alma mater, Michigan State University, she has always represented her school with confidence. “Go Green For Life!, Kubiak says.”
Before U of D Jesuit, Kubiak was a nurse at Cranbrook Educational Community and assisted children. But in 2024 she wanted to start something new and was looking for school nursing jobs in the Catholic nature. Kubiak explained, “Well, I wasn’t specifically seeking out U of D, but I was seeking jobs that were of the Catholic nature, and when U of D came up, I was interested. But so far, my experience here has been awesome!” Kubiak is grateful that U of D welcomed her into the school with open arms and that she can provide care for the students.
Kubiak is a dynamic and lively person who spends time with family and friends outside of school, bowling for fun, being outdoors, and reading books. She also moved from Ypsilanti to Waterford, Michigan, which provides pleasurable restaurants and parks. Kubiak is interested in all different types of healthy meals and enjoys making them. The one dish she could never go a day without eating is her mother’s famous “brown eggs and pork.” “My favorite meal to eat is brown eggs and pork; my mom makes it; she is from Taiwan, and the dish originates from there. I love that it tastes good, and I always love the way she makes it.” Kubiak is also a fan of all different types of music and catches a satisfying vibe from any genre or artist.
Rene Kubiak is ready to assist U of D Jesuit and wants to ensure everybody feels welcomed around her no matter what complications they need. She wants to do her best as a nurse so students stay healthy and positive throughout the school year. Kubiak is a very friendly, caring, and organized nurse at U of D and wants to see greatness out of the students.
