Once again, Future has met all expectations. With releasing his newest album Mixtape Pluto, on September 20th, he now has four consecutive albums that have made fans very satisfied. These include, I Never Liked You, We Don’t Trust You, We Still Don’t Trust You and now Mixtape Pluto. Coming off of his We Trust You Tour, fans anticipated that he would take a break and not make music for a while. But the day after his tour, he announced that he would be releasing a new album that made fans eager to immediately rush to social media and talk about it.
Mixtape Pluto’s highly anticipated release debuted as the No.1 album on top of the Billboard 200. This marked his third No.1 Album in only six months, joining We Don’t Trust You, (which debuted No. 1 on April 6), and We Still Don’t Trust You (which debuted No.1 on April 27th). No one has had three No.1 debuts on the Billboard 100 since The Beatles in 1965-66, which puts Future in legendary company. With an 11th No. 1 overall on the Billboard 200, Future also sits in legendary company with fellow artists. Future ties Eminem, Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand and Ye for the fifth-most No. 1s on the Billboard 200. Ahead of this group are The Beatles with 19 No.1s, Jay-Z and Taylor Swift both with 14, and Drake who holds 13.
The album is produced by Southside and Wheezy, who are well known in the rap community from working with Future, Lil Baby, Ye, Travis Scott, 21 Savage and many others. The cover art of the album is a small house with purple lights shining bright on the inside. It was home to the mother of Rico Wade, Future’s late cousin and mentor who inspired him to become a rapper. The album did not include any features, which showcased Future’s ability to carry an album all by himself and still be successful. On Apple Music, In the first week of the album’s release, Future owned the first twelve spots on the USA Top 100 songs list, with the rest of his 18 songs filling into the top 30. His top three most played songs were PLUTOSKI, LIL DEMON and SKI. Many fans say producer Southside had a huge influence on the album sounding like “ old future’ because of its similarity to his 2019 album, The Wizrd. Fans are visibly very pleased with Future’s consistency, one fan, Omari Cannon stating, “ To be honest, he doesn’t know how to drop a bad album”, and Myles Williams saying, “He’s the goat”.
Future continues to please his fans with music, entertainment and his lifestyle, he gives youth rappers a style to look up to, and motivation with all of his success that he has accumulated. Although fans don’t know exactly what is next with Future, they are sure it will be great.
