Cross Country season has gotten off to a very good start. The team won their first meet of the year up in DeWitt. For Varsity, Alec Koscielniak ‘22 came in 3rd overall with a time of 17:35.6, and Josiah Graddick ‘22 finished 16th overall with a time of 18:20.6. Alvin Stanton ‘23, Charlie Christensen ‘24, Owen Dorweiler ‘23 and Danny Miller ‘22 all had strong showings as well with all of them running below 18:40. Owen Gardella ‘22 and John LaGarde ‘23 finished 3rd and 4th in the JV race. The team has high expectations for this season. There are a lot of veteran and talented young runners who are looking to not only win catholic league but to  also run in states this year. The captains on the team are Danny Miller ‘22, Josiah Graddick ‘22, Alec Koscielniak ‘22, Trevor Eisenbacher ‘22 and Noah Mualem ‘22. I spoke to some of the captains and veteran leaders on the team about how they felt about this upcoming season and their expectations for themselves. Captain Josiah Graddick ‘22 says “I feel good about the season, our team are contenders for winning catholic leagues and sending people to states”. The expectations are high not only for team success but also individual success. Senior Bryson Wade ‘22 wants to “become a better overall runner” and “expects to improve his times”. Looks like the Cubs are ready for an exciting season. The teams next meet is September 11th out in Willow Metropark (New Boston, Michigan) where the Cubs will be looking to record another great performance. Varsity runs at 10:00 am and JV runs at 11:30 am. The team is also running on Monday, September 13th at Catholic Central in Novi.
