Who doesn’t love a good pizza? Exactly. Brody and I had the opportunity to order a beautiful authentic Brooklyn-styled pepperoni pizza and a buffalo chicken ranch pizza. How could anyone go wrong with a good pepperoni pizza, especially when it came out like Brooklyn’s warm crust, beautiful red circled pepperoni, and melting cheese? The crust had a solid crunch while still being able to chew it easily. The cheese was warm and dissolved as soon as it entered your mouth. Now as for the toppings, the pepperoni was simple yet tasty, all of them were warm and had a level of firmness and flexibility. The buffalo chicken was the true shocker as it sounded like something I would tend to ignore. But as Brody had said “this is the most immaculate and fire pizza I have ever had” and I could not agree more. The chicken was cooked to perfection, the buffalo sauce was tangy and hot, and the ranch was a nice added coolness to the entire combination on the pizza. Overall, my rating at Brooklyn Pizza in downtown Birmingham on Henrietta Street was nine out of ten and I think that was well deserved. This popular pizza joint has served the people of Birmingham for nearly 27 years, they certainly know a thing or two about pizza.
Not only does this fantastic restaurant sell pizza, but it also serves an assortment of unique beverages, ice cream, and it also has a fun bar where adults can enjoy themselves while their children dive headfirst into their slice of happiness. The beverages they offer range from fountain soda to glass bottles of Jarritos. With our slices, we felt that our meal and experience was not complete without an ice cream and their Jarritos soda. The flavors of Jarritos we went with were pineapple and strawberry. To say that these sodas were immaculate would be an understatement. They were astonishing. The strong scents and flavors of tropical summer and Hawaiian breeze complimented the flavors of Italian heritage. The ice cream was smooth and creamy. It cooled the spiciness of the buffalo, and it is a combination that I wouldn’t have thought of in a hundred years. Not only did this delightful trifecta of food tied our night together, but also our wallets. After ordering 4 slices of pizza, 2 bottles of Jarritos, and 2 cones of ice cream, Brooklyn Pizza snatched $32.50 from both of our bank accounts. The food is great, and the setting is comfortable, but if your looking to save some cash, you might want to reconsider.

Not only is the food special to the city of Birmingham, but the location is as well. Brooklyn Pizza holds a cultural significance for many residents. For your average Birmingham resident, you are bound to run into more than a few people that you might know while you are eating your delicious slice of Italian culture. You will see this place is busiest every Friday and Saturday night. It is a hotspot for nearly every resident of the area and those who visit. After major football games in the area, many kids come here to hang out and enjoy some freshly made pizza. The building itself is very arid and open on your average day, but during their busy hours it can get very crowded and hot. We talked to one of the workers and asked what it is like working when the place is busy. Diego, one of the cashiers told us this, “It is a hard job. Somedays are easier than other. But it is the most troubling when kids who mess around are loud walk-in like they own the place.”
Overall, if you are looking for a fun night out with pizza that will make you wanting to come back for more, we highly recommend trying Brooklyn Pizza.
